Machine Coaching Staff:

Matt Romaniski

Head Coach & General Manager

A native of Cottage Grove, MN, and a graduate of Eastern Michigan University, Coach Romaniski brings to the Motor City Machine 10 years of coaching experience. In the 2007-08 NAHL season, he was chosen as the Central Division All-star assistant coach; in his first season coaching in the league.

Romaniski played 2 years in the USHL for the Dubuque Fighting Saints followed by collegiate hockey for the University of Wisconsin-Stout. He then played professionally one year in the ECHL.

Regarded as a developmental coach, he led the Team Michigan program in Detroit for 3 years. The program developed 28 Division 1 players and over 50 USHL and NAHL alumni. His own summer training program is home to many professional, collegiate, junior, and aspiring players. His emphasis has always been to develop the athlete. An avid boxing participant and coach, he has spent time on the NBC television show Contender as a coach.

Sean Clark

Assistant Coach and Director of Athletic Development

Clark, from Troy, Mich., spent his college playing days in the WIAC at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire before moving on to the professional level with the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL.

After his playing career, Clark became an assistant coach for the Metro Jets of the Central States League before serving as head coach of the Michigan Jaguars during the 2006-07 season. After leaving the Jaguars, Clark jumped on board with the USA Hockey Select 17 staff in 2008.

"I'm very excited to be a part of the Motor City Machine organization,” said Clark. “I look forward to working together with (Machine) coach (GM- Matt) Romaniski and building a solid franchise here in the Detroit area."

Since 2006, Clark has been with CORE Sports Fitness, where he serves as a skating instructor, performance coach and business director. He’s also the creator, director and head instructor of Kris Draper’s CORE Fundamentals Hockey School.
